“US Government To Offer Free At-Home COVID-19 Test Kits Amid Rising Variant Cases”

(CBS News) — With a rise in cases of a new COVID-19 variant across the United States, the federal government is set to resume the distribution of free at-home COVID-19 test kits for Americans.

Starting later this month, individuals and households will be able to order these test kits, following a recent summer surge in COVID-19 infections.

This initiative is a continuation of a program initiated by the Biden administration last fall, which had been temporarily paused to manage the supply of tests. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, responsible for overseeing the program, has not yet provided a specific date for when orders for the at-home COVID-19 tests will resume via the COVIDTests.gov website.
