“Two Suspects Arrested Following Darlington Avenue Shooting: Details on the Case”

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) – Two individuals are now facing charges following a shooting incident on Darlington Avenue. The event ensued after Wilmington Police Department officers were alerted by a ShotSpotter security system on Tuesday evening.

From an issued news statement, we learned that the officers were dispatched to the vicinity of the 200 block of Darlington Avenue post 7 p.m. Rapidly, officers identified one suspect, a 19-year-old named Zymhec McNair, present on the 100 block of the same street. McNair attempted to escape during his arrest, as reported by the Wilmington Police Department.

After a short chase, McNair was successfully apprehended. Officers claim to have discovered a firearm and a red hoodie hidden nearby in a fringe of trees. McNair is facing multiple indictments including Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction, Discharge of a Firearm in an Enclosure, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Resisting a Public Officer, and Damage to Real and Personal property. He is being held in custody without bond at the New Hanover County Detention Center.

Furthermore, law enforcement officers indicate that there was a second shooter who had discharged a firearm on Darlington Avenue prior to their arrival. The second suspect, a 17-year-old, was arrested under an active secured custody order on charges of Firing a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
