“Brunswick County Schools (BCS), the final district in North Carolina still conducting remote learning, is poised to have its students back in classrooms in the near future. The transition will commence with Southport Elementary School reintroducing in-person learning through a modified timetable starting from Monday, October 7.
The school doors will welcome students at 8:00 am, with the academic day kicking off at 8:20 am. The school will cater to students’ nutritional needs by providing breakfast and lunch.
BCS has decided to let students off at 1:00 pm to counter the persistent traffic issues in Southport. The district plans to reach out to parents who have raised concerns regarding the early dismissal times in the school survey to probe into alternative possibilities.
Meanwhile, the YMCA is set to continue its offer of afterschool programming running from 3:30 pm till 6:00 pm.
BCS, in collaboration with NCDOT, will keep a diligent check on the road conditions with the intent of restoring the standard in-person timetable at the earliest convenience.”
