“Emergency Preparedness: Testing Brunswick Nuclear Plant Sirens”

In Southport, NC, the Brunswick Nuclear Plant will conduct testing of its outdoor warning sirens on Wednesday, October 9, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The 38 sirens located within a 10-mile radius of the plant will emit full-volume sound for three minutes each, with the possibility of some sirens requiring multiple tests to ensure proper functionality. Subsequent testing may occur after 1 p.m. for maintenance purposes. To learn more about these siren tests, interested individuals can visit Duke Energy’s Nuclear Education website.
