WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Wilmington International Airport announced on September 23 that it has secured $20 million in federal grants aimed at enhancing the airport’s facilities.

The allocated funds will be utilized as follows: $18.1 million will support the realignment of Airport Boulevard and the construction of a new terminal curb front, $900,000 will be designated for terminal design, while $1 million will be invested in general aviation upgrades.

This funding is part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program.

Jeff Bourk, the Director of Wilmington International Airport (ILM), remarked, “These federal grants play a crucial role in advancing ILM’s 5-year capital plan as outlined in the airport’s vision plan. The grants provide the necessary financial support to proceed with the roadway realignment and terminal curb project, which is expected to be completed by fall 2026.”
