An event organized by Coastal Horizons in Wilmington aimed to raise awareness about mental health and provide individuals with access to support and resources in honor of World Mental Health Awareness Day. Held at Coastal Horizons’ office in the Willie Stargell Office Park on Shipyard Boulevard, the event offered attendees the opportunity to engage with community partners, access mental health resources, and participate in activities promoting mindfulness, such as yoga. Samantha Kiger, a representative from Coastal Horizons, highlighted the importance of fostering connections among agencies to simplify the process for individuals navigating the complexities of the mental health system.
Kiger emphasized the significance of community collaboration in enhancing access to programs and services for those encountering mental health challenges. By bringing together a diverse range of partners, the event sought to streamline support efforts and facilitate assistance for individuals in need. World Mental Health Day, initially observed on October 10th, 1992, continues to inspire millions worldwide to participate in various initiatives to commemorate the occasion and advocate for mental health awareness.
