A Wilmington man has been apprehended by Bladen County Sheriff’s Deputies on a series of drug-related offenses in Tar Heel on October 4th. The arrest follows deputies’ response to an overdose incident last Friday evening, during which they discovered recently used hypodermic syringes. Upon conducting a further search of the individual and his vehicle, authorities uncovered multiple packs of MDMA, also known as Ecstasy, classified as a Schedule I controlled substance.
Justin Andrew Elkert, aged 42, was initially transported to the hospital following the incident. However, upon his release, he attempted to evade law enforcement. Elkert now faces charges including possession with intent to sell/distribute a Schedule I controlled substance, felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for the keeping or selling of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Presently, Elkert is detained at the Bladen County Detention Center without the option of bond.
