BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — More than a dozen schools in Brunswick County are set to resume in-person classes this week, just under ten days after a storm impacted numerous roads throughout the area.
Last week, the school district had announced a week of remote learning in response to the storm’s effects. However, following the progress made on county road repairs over the weekend, the district has confirmed that several schools will reopen for face-to-face instruction and resume normal operations starting Wednesday.
The schools scheduled to reopen include:
– North Brunswick High School
– West Brunswick High School
– The COAST
– BCECHS
– Leland Middle School
– Shallotte Middle School
– Town Creek Middle School
– Waccamaw School
– Jessie Mae Monroe Elementary School
– Union Elementary School
– Supply Elementary School
– Lincoln Elementary School
– Belville Elementary School
– Town Creek Elementary School
Tuesday will be utilized by teachers at these schools to shift lesson plans from remote learning to in-person activities.
The district has instructed all certified employees at closed sites to report to work if feasible. Those who cannot should coordinate with their direct supervisors to establish a remote work plan. Additionally, certified staff who are not classroom teachers, as well as classified staff unable to attend their normal job sites on Wednesday, should work directly with their supervisors to arrange approval for a new location or remote work option.
