“On Friday, September 27th, Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation (BEMC) dispatched a team of 18 crew members to aid in the power restoration efforts following Hurricane Helene in Brunswick County, NC. This group has been instrumental in bringing electricity back to several hundred affected customers. After completing their mission, the crew returned home on Friday afternoon, while another team was deployed to provide assistance in the western regions of the state.
Brookes Versaggi, the manager of member engagement and communication at BEMC, expressed the cooperative’s commitment to mutual aid, highlighting their willingness to support and receive help from other cooperatives in times of need. Following the storm’s devastation, external cooperatives requested additional crew support, prompting BEMC’s proactive response to offer assistance. Versaggi emphasized their pride in contributing to the restoration endeavors and reiterated their dedication to sending aid until power is fully restored for all affected individuals.
