**Communications Director Kevin Maurer Resigns from New Hanover Community Endowment**
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Kevin Maurer has officially resigned from his position as the Director of Communications for the New Hanover Community Endowment (NHCE), as confirmed in a statement he provided to WECT.
“I’ve decided to leave NHCE to pursue other opportunities. I am proud of the work we accomplished and wish NHCE nothing but success in the future,” Maurer remarked.
His resignation comes just a day after Lakesha McDay, the executive vice president of programs and operations, also stepped down from her role on September 23.
Maurer previously worked as a reporter in Wilmington, initially for the Associated Press and later for the StarNews before making the transition to the nonprofit sector. In addition to his work with NHCE, he continues to contribute to several notable publications, including Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, and The Washington Post. Maurer is also the author of 13 books, among them “No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden,” as noted on his profile page on the endowment’s website.
