“NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – The North Carolina Department of Insurance has established a Fact Center in Carolina Beach on Tuesday, with the chief aim to clarify doubts and answer questions about flood insurance.
The initiative has been undertaken to help the locals who experienced loss due to the recent unnamed storm that caused flooding in the town. Besides addressing queries, the department is also offering assistance to those navigating the claims process. Additionally, a FEMA representative was available online to disseminate necessary information to the public.
Marcia Kelly, the regional director for the Coastal Southeast with the NC DOI, expressed satisfaction with the response, “Multiple residents visited the center this morning, expressing gratitude for our presence and guidance. As a state agency, we don’t regulate flood insurance, but we can definitely direct them to FEMA and other relevant sources they need to process their claims.”
The Department is also planning to set up another fact center on Wednesday at the fire department in Kure Beach, which will be operational from 10 am to 3 pm.
In light of the recent flooding, North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey strongly recommends the residents to consider investing in flood insurance.”
