**Patricia Heaton Launches Anti-Antisemitism Campaign on College Campuses**
Upon witnessing Hamas’ video of their assaults on Israel shared on social media on October 7, actress Patricia Heaton found herself in disbelief. As student protests broke out on American college campuses, the “Everybody Loves Raymond” actress felt compelled to take action against the increasing antisemitism.
Heaton shared her outrage in an interview with Fox News this Monday. Noticing the lack of corresponding outrage from others, she and her partner founded the October 7th Coalition or O7C. This organization is focused on motivating Christians to actively vocalize their support for Israel and Jewish people and combat antisemitism.
There have been varied incidents of antisemitism against Jewish-Americans, from vandalism involving Nazi symbols on Jewish-owned businesses to the obstruction of Jewish students from classes. Recently, there have also been instances of mezuzahs – Jewish ritual objects containing a prayer affixed to door frames – being removed from students’ dorm rooms.
Earlier this month, Harvard student Sarah Silverman documented her experience in an op-ed for The Harvard Crimson. Silverman described how she discovered her mezuzah had been relocated to a different location within her dormitory hallway. Accounts like Silverman’s led Heaton and the O7C to launch the #MyzuzahYourzuzah campaign. This campaign encourages participants to video-record themselves hanging a mezuzah, post it online, and use the accompanying hashtag.
Heaton emphasized the necessity of standing up for Jewish people. “That’s what we’ve been working on,” she stated.
